JOB TITLE: Senior Electrical Engineer - Switchgear Systems
LOCATION: Gaydon
JOB TYPE: Contract (within IR35)

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Senior Switchgear Development Engineer to join the Electrical Engineering team in Gaydon, Warwickshire. The purpose of the role is to lead the development of new or modify existing switchgear systems and apply them to new applications/vehicle lines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Switchgear Engineer will be responsible for the successful delivery of new and modified switchgear systems from concept to production.
  • Work with the function owners and integration engineers to create system specifications that meet all current and future requirements
  • Liaise with the Design team in order to agree on switchgear designs which can be manufactured consistently to the correct quality, cost and time
  • Develop robust commodity timing plans
  • Understand technology trends and generate system & commodity strategy proposals for inclusion in future programmes
  • Produce and control supporting design and validation documentation to demonstrate a robust development process (E.g Engineering specifications, System Requirements specifications, DFMEAs, Design Verification Plans etc.)
  • Prepare and present strategy and status reports to senior management.
  • Support vehicle build and launch activities
  • Support Purchasing department in defining future commodity strategy.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Must have worked with switchgear & electronic control components previously and understand the blend of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering skills required to deliver this type of component/system
  • Experienced in a commodity delivery or project management role within the automotive sector
  • Must have a good working knowledge of switchgear and control electronics systems
  • Should have a good understanding of engineering process and a working knowledge of industry-standard quality tool sets
  • Must have exceptional planning skills to ensure delivery of required commodity attributes to quality, on budget and on time, with excellent verbal and writing skills


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams
  • Manage external suppliers to deliver best in class systems
  • Ability to analyse and validate supplier test data


SKILLS

  • Excellent negotiation skills creating win win outcomes
  • Competent in Microsoft Office toolset
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Analytical
  • Microsoft project experience is desirable
  • Financial management skills
  • Cross-functional teams


EDUCATION

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferably Chartered Engineering status or equivalent


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Must hold a full UK driver license
