JOB TITLE: Electrical System Test Engineer - Connected Car systems (Telematics)


JOB TYPE: Contract (within IR35)


We are looking for an Electrical System Test Engineer to join our client team and test the Telematics Connected Car Features. This engineer will take ownership of the whole testing cycle from interfacing with feature owners for requirements and providing sign-off reports and corresponding data.


  • Own the system/vehicle level testing responsibility for the Telematics System. This includes component hardware & software
  • Liaise with feature/system owners to fully capture customer user acceptance testing requirements (UAT)
  • Conduct requirements analysis and develop test verification methods
  • Maintain requirements traceability
  • Create Validation and UAT test plan against content for each segment of the test
  • Agree Validation and UAT test plan with each feature owner including size and number of tests
  • Prepare, design or source (as required), the necessary tools and equipment to support the validation of various software/hardware releases. This could include physical properties, test test properties, simulation equipment etc.
  • Carry out testing with a repeatable and structured test setup regime
  • Record test results accurately ensuring Accurate recording of test results
  • Conduct whole vehicle testing for your systems and features both within and outside of the UK, focusing on customer acceptance
  • Support prototypes build and test vehicle preparation
  • Develop new processes and techniques for component/system validation
  • E.g Virtual testing (MIL / HIL / SIL)
  • Support Purchasing department in defining future commodity strategy on Vehicle testing and integration.
  • Prepare and present status reports to senior management.


  • Excellent working understanding of electrical system and software test verification methods
  • Experience of generating electronic control unit/software test requirements and plans
  • Good understanding of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and software
  • Knowledge of software development processes and managing software delivery


  • Have fully validated complex systems/features previously at component, system and whole vehicle level.
  • Hands-on experience on diagnostics service tools in the Auto Industry.
  • Technical engineering background and comprehensive knowledge of using calculation and analysis to drive testing processes.
  • Automotive quality tools and processes.


  • Competent in Microsoft Office toolset.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels
  • Confident presenter

  • Microsoft project experience is desirable
  • Excellent financial management skills

  • Cross-functional teams.


  • Electrical or Electronics Degree/Diploma or equivalent


  • Must hold a UK driver license.
